Sylvanas Windrunner (WOW)

Ducky point of view:

I am a very big World of Warcraft girl, and I wanted to start on my own project of Sylvanas Windrunner, the Banshee Queen. Using the templates from UnfoldWizard on Etsy and the programme Papakura, I drew these onto foam ready to cut. I also had to be mindful that some of the templates would have to be doubled. The foam thickness was from 4mm-6mm.

Once the templates were cut, they were ready to be stuck together with hot glue, and bent to shape with a heat gun.

TOP TIP: Always wear heat protected gloves for the heat gun when bending foam.

Once they were glued, Ghost then filed down some of the edges to give a more smoother look and feel to the armour. This also helped when calculated with my body width and height to ensure eveything stayed on correctly and be symmetrical.

Once glued and bent, I went over with a filler to cover up gaps in the armour. The product I used was Craft Filler from Studio Range. Once this was dry, it was then sanded with sanding paper by hand, starting off with P80 and then moving onto a P240 to give it a much smoother feel. Then I primed everything with jet black primer, ready for air brushing.

Here is the final look. The bow was made with pipes that can be unattached for easy transportation, and the spray colour was a mixture of black and white with a hint of sliver. The cloak and tabard still need to be made, and once this has been done, we will showcase the final look at the event Runeheim Festival at the end of May 2026.

I am also going to be airbrushing my makeup on to give the character a more unique feel and making my own long ears to accompy the look.
